Why we believe this is important

Why do we believe that the Khanyisa Life Skills Trainings are important?

Kurland Village is faced with many social and economic instabilities. High rates of unemployment, alcoholism, drug abuse and HIV/Aids are serious issues, disrupting many families and the community itself. Furthermore, Kurland Village is inhabited by two distinct cultural groupings with different values and world views, leading to frequent conflict over territorial and other matters.

Hence, these kids don’t have an easy childhood. They are often exposed to domestic violence, and alcohol and drugs can become the “easy” way out. We believe that the Khanyisa Training would lead to meaningful upliftment and empowerment for these young people.
